Last Day of the Festival!

Day 5. All good things come to an end, or so they say. Today is our final day of the Freeland Film Festival 2020. To say that this year has been significantly different is an understatement. This year we are seeing our team and our panelists through our computers and Zoom meetings. This year, instead of watching films at the American Legion, Thrasher Opera House, Town Square, or Caestecker Library, we are viewing films through our computers in our homes. Yes, things have changed…
What else has changed? Well, for starters, we are not taking down the humongous screen at Thrasher Opera House, which is what we would be doing right about now. We are not having to clean up all of our venues, leaving no evidence that we were ever there in the first place. We are not packing up our film gear into trucks, AND we are not hugging each other and saying “see you all again, same time, same place back here in Green Lake!” This year has been new for all of us. But do you know what? We learned to be flexible and we made those adjustments. Most importantly, you all took a leap of faith and said “why not”? YOU DID IT! Congratulations!
The opportunity to meet storytellers and filmmakers of all levels is amazing to us all, whether it’s face to face or virtual. There are storytellers everywhere, trying to get our important, unheard, and incredible stories told, and when they succeed, we need to watch.
Help us reach our goal! We are almost there but need your support! Today is the last day of our virtual film festival and although we have had incredible turn-out, we still have a goal to reach! Our goal is short $1000 and we are hoping that you can help by either purchasing a ticket, a pass, or making a donation with the link below. Reaching our goal helps us ensure future Freeland Film Festivals and helps us support the mission of Freeland to ending wildlife trafficking and human slavery.
