POSTPONED – Motherload Outdoor Movie
UPDATE: With an increasing number of positive COVID-19 cases in the Green Lake area, we have decided to postpone this event to a future date TBD. Please join us for our virtual film festival Sept. 11-15 at freelandfilmfest.eventive.org.
What if bikes could save the world? The notion is old as the bicycle itself, but it gets a new spin in the documentary MOTHERLOAD coming soon to our neighborhood!
Freeland is excited to announce its third “outdoor movie night” over Labor Day weekend! This event will help support our Freeland Virtual Film Festival September 11-15th. This film will be screened at Green Lake Town Square Mill Pond Terrace on Sept 5th, 2020, and is being sponsored by Dan Hutter at Moboevo Bikes. Moboevo is located on the first floor at Town Square community center.
MOTHERLOAD is a documentary in which the cargo bicycle becomes a vehicle for exploring motherhood in this digital age of climate change. The film follows director and new mother Liz Canning on her quest to understand the increasing tension between modern life and our hunter-gatherer DNA, and how cargo bikes offer a solution. As Liz meets the people behind this push to replace cars with purpose-built bikes, she learns about the history and potential future of the bicycle as the “ultimate social revolutionizer.”
Since making its world premiere in May 2019, MOTHERLOAD has been on a global screening tour winning multiple awards and playing over 160 venues. Green Lake will be its first official Wisconsin screening.
Additional donations are appreciated to support our virtual film festival. Hope to see you there! Feel free to park your bikes at Town Square’s new bike station in the back of Mill Pond Terrace!
